How Do Urinal Water Flow Savers Work
How do urinal water flow savers work and do they really save water ?
It is still of paramount importance to have urinals flushed regularly with fresh water. Urine can leave salt deposits and a build-up of Uric acid. This not only leaves a foul smell behind but can also begin to clog up waste pipes.

Urinal cisterns hold a volume of water that is used to flush around the urinal bowls and leave them rinsed, clean, and ready for the next user.
How do urinal water savers work with flush controls
Conserving water and dramatically cutting water costs – saving up to 95% of water usage compared with an uncontrolled cistern, and around 30-40% against more basic water management saving systems.
How do washroom cisterns work?
Traditional gents urinal flushing systems have a tank of water positioned above the urinals. When the water level in the cistern reaches a set limit water will flow from the cistern into the urinal bowl. The water then flows through the urinal waste, into the trap, and out to the sewer via the waste pipes.
PIR urinal flushing devices
Sophisticated Water Management Systems and PIR devices use infra-red technology to fill and flush the urinal cistern. The urinal sensor is connected to a solenoid valve that is plumbed directly into the urinal water feed pipe.
The PIR infra-red sensor detects movement within the vicinity of the urinals. This subsequently allows a small amount of water to fill the urinal cistern. The more movement that is detected, the quicker the urinal cistern is filled before reaching its limit and flushing the urinals.

How do urinal water flow savers work
The Flow Saver consists of an PIR sensor unit as well as a solenoid for installation into the water supply pipe of a urinal auto cistern. The unit also monitors washroom traffic to schedule cistern flushes.
Where no motion is detected a hygiene flush is initiated at 12-hour intervals. During high usage periods where the number of detections exceeds 20. The unit will also temporally switch from 30- or 60-minute flushing to 15-minute flushing for improved hygiene.
